Join Our Remote Sensing Team as Research Project Manager Agriculture

One of the key technologies applied in this context is Remote Sensing. The Environmental Intelligence Unit of VITO has a long tradition in Remote Sensing, which has never been more innovative & fascinating than today. With the increasing number of satellites, drones, processing facilities and technologies like artificial intelligence, the opportunities with remote sensing are larger than ever.  

Meanwhile the Remote Sensing team of VITO counts more than 120 motivated scientists, IT engineers and project managers. Within the Agriculture team we create research outcomes on productivity, drought, crop classification and plant traits. Working on in-situ data, capacity building, AI-frameworks and validation all the same.

To support the expansion of our ambitious goals, we are looking to welcome a new colleague to our team. The hiring decision is expected by the end of August 2025.

Job requirements

Your Profile – Skills and Qualities We Value:

  • You hold a Master or PhD degree preferably related to bioscience engineering, engineering science, or environmental sciences

  • You have proven knowledge or strong interest in project and proposal management.

  • You have proven

  • knowledge and hands-on experience in remote sensing/geospatial data and affinity with environmental applications

  • You have a passion for the natural environment and want to contribute to solutions that improve the sustainability of food production and agriculture

  • You have a strong customer focus

  • You have the ability to make decisions, act on your own initiative and operate in a pro-active way

  • You have excellent writing and presentation skills in English

  • You have excellent team/client interpersonal skills

  • You are willing to take residence in Belgium for at least two years
