Job description

The Environmental Intelligence Unit of VITO processes petabytes of earth observation data. We primarily specialise in Geo-Intelligence relying on numerical/statistical analysis, computer vision, machine learning and AI techniques in the application workflows. That is our passion: extracting information from the vast amounts of incoming images, information required by our clients. We are currently seeking a motivated R&D DevOps Engineer – Environmental Geo-Intelligence

Your Tasks:

  • You utilize remote sensing and data science techniques to acquire, process, and analyze geospatial data.
  • You develop innovative algorithms and models to extract actionable insights from satellite imagery and other geospatial datasets.
  • You apply advanced data science methodologies to uncover patterns, trends, and anomalies in geospatial data.
  • You collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate remote sensing and geo intelligence solutions into existing or new systems.
  • You implement and maintain DevOps practices to ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of our geospatial data infrastructure.

Job requirements

  • You hold a M.Sc. degree or higher in remote sensing, spatial modelling, data science, geoinformatics, computer science, physics, environmental sciences or a related field.
  • You have a strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C/C++ or Java and a solid understanding of data science concepts and techniques, including machine learning, statistical analysis, and data visualization.
  • You have experience with DevOps practices and tools, such as Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Furthermore you have excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and you have affective communication skills and the ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
