Lab Technician (flow batteries)

VITO, an independent research organization based in Flanders, is a leader in cleantech and sustainable development. Leveraging our expertise and experience, we aim to enhance industrial production processes by making them more efficient, productive, and environmentally sustainable. At our Electrochemistry Excellence Center, we are developing redox active materials, electrodes and membranes for organic redox flow batteries. To further strengthen our team, we are seeking a skilled and motivated Lab Technician to join us in driving this mission forward.

Some of your tasks:

• You will work on behalf of the researchers and in close collaboration with your fellow lab technicians.

• You will set up and operate electrochemical flow battery cells.

• You are responsible for monitoring and maintaining experimental conditions such as temperature, pressure, and voltage.

• Under the supervision of your assigned researcher, you will operate and maintain electrochemical equipment such as potentiostats, electrodes, cells, pumps and analytical instruments.

• You will prepare chemical solutions, reagents, ensuring proper labeling, storage, and disposal of chemicals.

• You are responsible for recording experimental data accurately, analyzing results using software tools and preparing reports.

• Conducting regular safety checks and maintaining safety records

Job requirements

• You hold a bachelor’s degree in chemistry or professional experience in Electrochemistry or battery testing.

• You have a good technical background, experience in a laboratory and research environment are pluses.

• You are motivated to accurately set up set-ups and processes and you like variation and you work result- and solution-oriented.

• You are hands-on and, in addition, working in a lab environment appeals to you.

• You are a team player who can easily work independently.

• You have good oral and written communication skills in English.
