The Product Development and Operational Services team develops and operates a wide range of software systems that assist our customers and researchers from various fields in their research.

With the ongoing digitization in scientific research, there is a growing need for reliable and efficient digital solutions. Due to this increasing demand for support in cloud and on-premise infrastructure, high-performance computing, and software development, we are looking to expand the team with a passionate DevOps Engineer.


Your responsibilities:

  • Manage and optimize cloud and on-premise infrastructures.
  • Support and maintain a high-performance Linux computing cluster used for running complex computing models.
  • Handle inquiries from our research projects and propose solutions with a focus on automation, configuration, and infrastructure as code.
  • Assist in implementing and managing the software development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with research teams to scale infrastructure according to growing needs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in infrastructure and computing.
  • Automate processes for efficient management and development.
  • Implement security best practices throughout the infrastructure.

Job requirements

Must have:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in applied informatics.
  • At least 5 years of experience with Linux operating systems.
  • At least 2 years of experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Singularity).
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (Puppet, Terraform, Ansible).
  • Experience with scripting (Bash, Perl) and database systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Experience in monitoring and optimizing the performance of digital solutions.
  • Good knowledge of computer networks, web protocols, web standards, and security principles.
  • Excellent command of Dutch and English.

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of Jenkins and experience with artifact repositories.
  • Experience with software development (Python, Java, C).
  • Experience in setting up and maintaining HPC clusters (knowledge of resource managers such as Slurm).
