Geothermal Reservoir Engineer

We are hiring a Geothermal Reservoir Engineer to join us in shaping the future of sustainable solutions.

As geothermal and hydrogeological modelling expert, you contribute to the development of geothermal energy in Belgium, Europe and beyond. 

As geothermal reservoir engineer:

• You understand and interpret geological and hydrogeological data to build up a picture of the geothermal reservoirs,

• You provide support in the interpretation of well test and production data via reservoir modelling,

• You contribute to the setup of new test and production programs for geothermal projects,

• You contribute to the development of mine water geothermal applications from abandoned mines; including the

development and operational follow up of specific mine water reservoir models,

• You report model results, analysis and interpretations to customers, stakeholders and the scientific community,

• You work in close cooperation with the interdisciplinary geothermal energy team at VITO.

• You have a master's degree in geology, hydrogeology, engineering or mining. A PhD is a plus.

• You have experience in (geothermal) reservoir modelling and related software packages.

• You have experience in python coding.

• You have experience in large (geospatial) data handling and in the use of GIS.

• You have good communication skills and are a team player.

• You are fluent in English, both verbally and in writing. Fluent in Dutch and/or French is a plus.

• The unit Environmental Intelligence is based in Mol. We work activity based. Our activities determine our workplace. On average we meet twice a week in our office in Mol. On the other days you can work from home, Mol or from a VITO satellite office (Antwerp-Berchem, Genk, Ghent, Ostend) depending on the needs of the activity.
