Within Energyville, the software implementation team maintains, utilizes, and further improves our in-house developed state-of-the-art energy related applications and tools. These are developed in Python across different applied research projects on Electrical grids, Thermal systems, build environments, energy markets, etc.
Within this team we are looking or a Full Stack Developer with a broad experience and knowledge of the Software Development domain.

You work as part of a collaborative team of software engineers, each bringing diverse skills and expertise across various domains of software development, such as front-end and back-end development, cloud computing, data engineering, DevOps, machine learning, and cybersecurity.
You interface with researchers in the domains of electrical grids, electrical storage, thermal energy systems, energy markets, e-mobility, etc., and provide performant and practical solutions for their challenges.
Together with a team of domain experts, software architects and developers, you are responsible for the further development, management, defining architecture and design and quality of the various software solutions and will define software test specifications and procedures.
You interact with internal and external software development partners, and from your expertise are capable of challenging and negotiating the proposed solutions.
You, together with your colleagues, coach and assist researchers in the definition of software requirements, software processes and work out solutions that comply with their needs.
You align SW development and deployment principles with other colleagues from the EnergyVille Implementation Team.
You interact with software architects and developers of other VITO departments to find synergies and possible joint efforts.
You hold a master’s degree in computer science or data science, engineering, applied mathematics, or a relevant similar education in
You are proficient in Python programming language and use principles from object-oriented programming.
You have proven experience in both front-end as back-end development of web applications and container applications.
Knowledge of/experience with cloud solutions and certificates (preferable Microsoft Azure), Docker and orchestration platforms, relational databases (SQL, PostgreSQL, ESQL), and database management.
You feel confident and well-prepared to take the lead in discussions with energy researchers, data scientists, and the IT application development team.
You continuously learn and improve your skills in software development, software architecture and IT and are open to learn more on the neighboring energy domains. You actively explore novel technologies and frameworks.
Experience with Software architecture definition and implementation is a strong asset.
A strong interest in sustainable energy, the energy system, and energy transition related topics is a plus.
