Orion Grid Technologies is a VITO and Energyville spin-off company that develops and deploys advanced software platforms for Distribution System Operators (DSOs). Our mission is to empower DSOs with the data-driven intelligence to navigate their grids. Our tools enhance visibility and intelligence on the low-voltage electricity grid enabling DSOs to operate more reliably, plan investments more effectively, and accelerate the energy transition.
Orion is currently raising its seed funding round to scale its commercial footprint across Europe and expand its product portfolio.
We are seeking an entrepreneurial and results-driven Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) to join our leadership team and lead the company’s commercial strategy and execution. This role is ideal for a commercial leader who thrives in a scale-up environment and wants to shape the future of grid software in Europe.
The CCO will be responsible for building the sales and business development organization from the ground up, crafting and executing the company’s commercial strategy, establishing key customer and partner relationships across the EU and drive revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
Design and lead Orion’s commercial strategy to accelerate revenue growth and market expansion across Europe.
Build and scale a high-performing sales and business development team, including hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management.
Drive end-to-end sales execution: from lead generation and qualification to deal negotiation and closing.
Own strategic customer relationships with DSOs and energy sector stakeholders.
Define pricing, contracting, and partnership models aligned with product-market fit and customer needs.
Collaborate with the CEO and leadership team to support investor engagement and commercial due diligence during financing rounds.
Act as a strategic partner to the product and engineering teams by feeding market insights and customer feedback into the product roadmap.
Represent Orion at industry forums and build a trusted presence in the European energy landscape.
Define and track commercial KPIs and report regularly to the executive team and board.
10+ years in commercial leadership roles, ideally in B2B software, energy tech, or infrastructure-related sectors.
Proven track record of scaling commercial operations from early-stage to significant revenue milestones.
Strong understanding of the energy sector, particularly DSOs, regulatory dynamics, and long sales cycles.
Strong interest in and affinity with power systems engineering, AI, and data science.
Experience building and leading sales teams, preferably within a startup or scale-up context.
Excellent negotiation, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
Experience with public procurement and complex, multi-stakeholder customer environments.
Fluent in English; Dutch, French, German, or proficiency in another major European language is a strong plus.
Willingness to travel as needed across Europe.
